EPISODE 1
THE CHALLENGE that started it all
SHOW NOTES:
Here we go! The First, Introductory episode of WTF is a dad bod podcast!
What better way to kick this off than talking about how it started for me. A friend and I were both in our late 30’s and had put on a few pounds.
Slacking off by not exercising and perhaps eating more than we should.
Realizing that we were getting older and not feeling good about ourselves or how we looked, we had a choice to make.
You either let yourself go and deal with the consequences later OR you start doing something.
Hold each other accountable to the work AND get a reward from it!

Transforming Dad Bods: A Fitness Journey in your 40’s
On the first episode of WTF IS A DAD BOD, where we delve into the realities of transforming our bodies and lives. In this episode, we share personal experiences, challenges, and successful strategies for reclaiming health and fitness, especially in your late 30s and early 40s.
As my friend and I found ourselves approaching 40, the extra pounds had stealthily accumulated. This explores the choices we made to confront these changes and the transformative journey that followed.
In your mid-thirties, with families to care for, a crucial decision emerges – either succumb to the changes or take control. We chose the latter, dedicating time to daily physical movement. Starting small is crucial, and having a friend join adds accountability and motivation through shared victories.
Sharing my journey, it led me to long-distance running, including half marathons and marathons. The camaraderie and encouragement from my friend played a pivotal role in overcoming challenges.
For those considering a fitness journey, have a conversation with a friend that wants to take on the challenge. Set specific weight loss goals within a timeframe, and reward yourselves at the finish line. A celebration can be anything, in our case, it was an opportunity to make a reservation at a fancy steakhouse that we’d been wanting to go to for a while.
Start with daily walks evolving into runs. Basic home exercises like push-ups, squats, and planks are effective.
Maintaining a healthy diet is crucial. Minimize sodas, sweets, and salty snacks. Occasional indulgence is acceptable with a consistent exercise routine. Opt for healthier alternatives like fruits or nuts.
Embarking on a fitness journey in your late 30s and early 40s doesn't have to be overwhelming.
